Claim Alone in the Dark The Trilogy For Free on GOG until Feb 5th

Claim the classic Alone in the Dark trilogy for free on GOG until Feb 5. A pioneer of survival horror, preserved to run on modern PCs.

A pioneer of the survival horror genre has popped up as a freebie on GOG, giving a new generation of gamers the chance to claim a piece of gaming history at no cost. The Alone in the Dark trilogy, which helped define the early 3D horror experience long before Resident Evil and Silent Hill became genre staples, is currently available to add to your GOG library for free. It’s an easy grab that also celebrates GOG’s ongoing efforts to preserve older games for modern systems.

Alone in the Dark The Trilogy for Free on GOG

GOG is offering Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy completely free until February 5th at 6am PT, 9am ET, or 2pm GMT. Once claimed, the games are yours to keep forever.

The trilogy includes the first three Alone in the Dark titles, originally released between 1992 and 1995, and they’re often credited as true pioneers of survival horror. They arrived years before the original Resident Evil or Silent Hill, games that many people consider the pillars of the genre today.
Even though these games are over three decades old, since they’re part of the GOG Preservation Program, they’ve been updated to run properly on modern PCs. No tinkering or workarounds are required.

Claiming the trilogy is straightforward. You can head to the GOG homepage then scroll down to the giveaway section or use this direct link. Note that when you claim the games, GOG will automatically sign you up for the newsletter but that can be turned off anytime through your account settings.

If you’re even mildly interested in gaming history or survival horror, this is an easy recommendation. It’s a short window though so claim it now before it’s too late.

As of writing, the GOG Preservation Program includes more than 270 games, with the most recent addition of several classic Final Fantasy titles which is something many fans never expected to see happen.
